This consisted of:
1) Extensive clinical and morphological sessions in CHD (hand on sessions in different morphological heart abnormalities).
2) Hand on teaching sessions in cross sectional echocardiography
3) One to one theoretical and practical teaching in cardiac catheterisation.
4) The Diploma includes writing thesis, which was about “The Controversy in Absent Pulmonary Valve Syndrome.”
5) Attending various meetings that have been run at the RPH including: Paediatric Medico-surgical Meeting: discuss the surgical and Cardiac Catheterization cases, Paediatric and fetal cardiology, adult congenital heart disease, Paediatric Echocardiograpgy Clinic by EA Shinebourne., morphology lecture by Dr. Y Ho and adult echocardiography meeting.
6) Examination of the Diploma Paediatric Cardiology: In 22 June 1998, Theoretical examination consists of 20 data analysis and 20 slides with negative marking system. In 23 June 1998, Clinical examination consists of 7 short cases, external examiner. Viva: Oral discussion of the Morphology, diagnosis and medical or surgical management of CHD and the thesis, external examiner.
The results: was passed the Diploma successfully with distinction in 1 August 1998
Post Diploma the second period (26 months) I got working contract in RBH. I did formal cross sectional echocardiography and cardiac catheterization (CC diagnostic and interventional), join ward¢s and paediatric intensive care rounds. I run outpatients and echo clinic with Dr. E Shinebourne and performed echocardiography. I also joined Dr. Rigby (another consultant in the RBH) echo clinic and did some echo and CC under supervision. All the lectures and meeting mentioned earlier are very important I was very keen to attend almost all of them.

These papers have been submitted to Journals editorial review and I am the first author:
1-Accepted paper to Kuwait Medical Journal “Short and Long Term Results of Repaired Complete Atrioventricular Septal Defects: Risk Factor Analysis”. Paper acceptance included but not published yet.
2- The second study is under review title as “Occlusion of Fontan fenestrations using Amplatzer septal occluder”. It is submitted to International Journal of Cardiovascular Imaging.
Ongoing planned researches:
1- Prophylactic screening and evaluation of all patients with single ventricle cardiac abnormalities who had undergone total cavopulmonary connections (TCPC) surgery. These patients will have several tests to detect early complications of TCPC surgery to avoid failure of TCPC. This is 5 years prospective study.
2- A case control prospective study to calculate the incidence of CHD by studying fetal heart of pregnant ladies. The study group will be IVF, IUI and normal pregnant ladies. It is a collaborative work between Dr Hazem and his staff in IVF Unit in Maternity Hospital and Fetal Cardiology Unit in Chest Diseases Hospital.

In the Fifth World Congress in Pedaitric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery in 26 June 2009 in Cairns Australia I have presented a paper entited as (Short and Long Term Results of Repaired Complete Atrioventricular Septal Defects: Risk Factor Analysis).
B- Posters presentations:
Two posters had been presented in the Kuwait University Poster Day April.2005, and one in 2006. The name of the poster studies:
1) The surgical outcome of complete atrioventricular septal defect in Kuwait: risk factors for hospital mortality and reoperation.
2) The Incidence and spectrum of Atioventricular Septal Defect in Kuwait
3) Percutaneous Closure of Right Coronary Artery to Main Pulmonary Artery Fistula in a Neonate in Kuwait.
4) The same posters were presented in the IV World Congress in Pediatric Cardiology WCPC, Argentine and one in The Pediatric Interventional cardiac Symposium (PICS) in September 2005.
